Welcome to K Hicks Counselling

A therapeutic space to explore and grow through compassion.

My name is Kate Hicks, a BACP registered and NCPS accredited integrative counsellor providing short and long-term therapy for adults in Darley Abbey, Allestree, Mickleover and Derby. I also offer online counselling across the UK, making it easy to access support wherever you are.

Counselling in a Compassionate, Non-Judgemental Space

Modern life places enormous pressure on us – pressure that, as human beings, we were never designed to withstand. When we combine this with the fact that life is inherently challenging and often brings deeply painful experiences, it’s no wonder that so many of us find ourselves struggling.

Each person’s story is unique. We all respond to life’s difficulties in different ways and there’s no one-size-fits-all path to healing. As an integrative counsellor, I tailor my approach to suit your individual needs, whatever challenges you may be facing. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, low self-esteem, self-sabotage, relationship issues, loss, health concerns or depression (to name just a few), I offer a compassionate, empathetic space where you can safely explore your experiences without judgment.

My aim is for every client to feel seen, heard and understood. Through gentle exploration and guided self-discovery, you’ll begin to develop greater self-awareness – and with that, the capacity to make meaningful, lasting change. You can take a step closer to the version of yourself you want to become and further away from the version shaped by difficult circumstances and past experiences.

I’m trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic and Humanistic approaches, which I integrate according to what feels most effective for you. I also draw extensively on Compassion Focused Therapy, a powerful branch of CBT that helps clients connect their early life experiences with current emotional patterns, resistances and struggles. I’ve found this to be an especially valuable framework for fostering understanding, acceptance and emotional healing.
